Margo Strotter and her partner, Edward Singleton, opened Ain’t She Sweet Café in August 2006 and it was instantly welcomed by the community. Margo has tapped into the young professionals living and working in the Bronzeville/North Kenwood neighborhood who are living healthier lifestyles, and that includes eating the good and good-for-you sandwiches and smoothies offered here.

Margo has been waiting 20 years for the chance to locate here. “No other area in Chicago is up and coming like this neighborhood is,” says Margo. “Folks are relocating here from the suburbs and from other cities.”

When it came to 4532 S Cottage Grovefinding the perfect location, Margo relied on QCDC to help scout out locations and work with business owners. “They were always available and so supportive,” she says.

 

Business is doing well. Ain’t She Sweet has thrived on word of mouth and loyal customers. Many locals come in to hang out, study, and meet friends. “I have had nothing but wonderful customers. It’s almost like a family now.”
